Born in 1882, Adeline Virginia Woolf was a British modernist author. She is considered one of the most desirable and finest writers of the 20th century.

She was the first author to use the stream of consciousness as a narrative device. Her father encouraged her to write, and she started writing professionally in the year 1900. She got married to Leonard Woolf, and in 1917, with her partner, they launched Hogarth Press. Most of her work got published in this press only.
