Habits are at the very foundation of all that we do. They began at a very early age, and some of them still exist today. Some we picked up from our parents, and some we have no idea where they came from or why we haven’t gotten rid of them.

But good or bad, habits are here to stay. Why not take control and utilize them effectively. Keep the ones that work and get rid of the ones that don’t. It can be as simple as that.

Now at the outset, I will clearly state that not all highly confident people have all 7 of these habits all the time. It is not necessary. And, just because you may not have all these habits now does not mean you can’t develop them. So grab your yardstick!

Here we go!!

1. They don’t apologize

Yes, you read that, right! That is, they don’t apologize for who they are. Confident people embrace their authenticity. We all have different personalities, and that’s a good thing. The world would be such a boring place if every human being behaved exactly the same. The highly confident person is comfortable in his/her own skin. And they absolutely love themselves. But keep in mind confidence does not mean rude. It does not mean crude or boisterous. It is an inner strength that is available to all personality types without apology. Do not apologize for who you are. Embrace it with confidence.

2. They thrive outside

Confidence drives you outside your comfort zone. It allows you to live life at a higher vibration. That’s why highly confident people are continually stretching themselves. They aren’t comfortable with the status quo. They don’t let fear hold them back. They are courageous because courage and confidence are closely connected. And it takes courage to live life on the confident side. As a highly confident person, I encourage you to thrive on the outside.

3. They set healthy boundaries

Oftentimes people-pleasing can drive us to unhealthy boundaries. The desire to please those in our lives, coupled with the inability to say ‘no,’ does not indicate a highly confident person. Confident people say ‘yes’ and mean ‘yes.’ This applies equally to saying ‘no.’ And the confident person is not afraid to say ‘no.’ Highly confident people set and maintain healthy boundaries. This includes who they choose to spend time with and for how long. Some people you can spend days with and others only a few minutes. The highly confident person is well versed in a healthy boundary setting and decision-making.

4. They forgive and forget

Being highly confident does not mean you never make mistakes. It does not mean you don’t sometimes make the wrong decisions, choose the wrong partner, business venture, or friend. Mistakes are inevitable! However, you must be confident enough to take it in stride. Be confident enough to forgive yourself and keep it moving. Highly confident people don’t sit around ruminating or wallowing in misery. They forgive, learn the lesson, and forget about it. Life goes on.

5. They stand up for their beliefs

The highly confident person is not afraid to stand up for what they believe. They are not afraid to speak up in the face of injustice, even when they speak alone. Cowering in the corner is not a characteristic of a confident person. They are not afraid of criticism when they know what is right. The highly confident person goes out on a limb and holds on with conviction and tenacity. Highly confident people stand firm in their beliefs. Horace Mann said, be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.

6. They continue to learn and grow

Life is about continuing to learn and grow. None of us know it all. There is always more to learn. The highly confident person pursues knowledge and experiences in an effort to enrich his/her life and the lives of those they come in contact with. If we are not growing, we are dying; there’s no in-between. Highly confident people are not stagnant. They are unstoppable. Regardless of your age, continue to learn and search and grow! That’s what highly confident people do.

7. They give back

This relates to the abundance mindset. Highly confident people give back PLAIN AND SIMPLE. This does not only relate to finances, but skills, gifts, time, and the list goes on. There is more than enough to go around. Giving back can take many forms, such as mentorship, volunteering, coaching, and so much more. Scarcity is based on fear, not confidence! During this difficult time, I challenge you to find more ways to give back, confidently!

I am certain many of you are already highly confident and could add an 8th or even a 9th habit. I applaud you, and I encourage you to do so. For others, these habits give us a place to start. Being highly confident is an ongoing process. I challenge each of you to pick a habit each week and make an effort to improve upon it. And share this article with others in your circle. Let’s all be highly confident as this year draws to an end, and a new one begins.
