3 Simple Steps To Get Motivated Every Day When You Wake Up

Mornings might be tough, especially in winter, when you feel like staying in bed all cozy and warm the whole day! That is why we need a little help and tricks to get us moving and start the day on the right foot.

Being motivated every day is not impossible if you know how to trigger it. So, since motivation is one of the four main pillars of my mentoring programs, I want to share with you today three of the best tips I have to get motivated every morning starting now!

1.- Morning, Affirmations

Affirmations are key! Starting the day with positive thoughts will increase your motivation for the rest of the day. Think about it, wouldn’t it be great to start every day listening to others’ compliments or your own positive thoughts? With daily morning affirmations, you will start feeling unstoppable. So, ask yourself for a second: What would you like to hear every morning? What makes you really happy when other people tell you that? What is something that you always say to yourself to give you strength? It could be something simple like “I am going to have a great day” or “I know I can do it!”.

Or even better, if you want to take it to another level, increase the intention and the reflection on these thoughts and make it personal, describe how you want your day to be like and say it in a positive way and use the first person when speaking, this way you will notice how you are the main character of the story.

2.- Do something you love

After saying your affirmations, it is time to do something you love, something you know makes you happy every time you do it. Because who doesn’t want to start their mornings with the best mood? Spoiler alert: you don’t need to spend one hour every morning to be happy. It could be doing yoga for 15 minutes, reading a chapter of the book you are still waiting to start, painting mandalas, or maybe dancing to your favorite song! Do whatever brings joy to you, and you will notice how your mornings look very different.

It doesn’t have to be the same activity every day but being consistent with what you do will increase the chances to make it a habit, and you will start noticing changes very soon. I want you to write down what you like, what you love, and what makes you happy. Once you have it done, it is time for you to start having some fun in the mornings.

3.- Enjoy your breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it is true! I’m not talking from a health perspective, but from one that I can assure you will increase your motivation. Having a good breakfast will make you feel worth the effort of getting up, and also, by feeling like you deserve it, it will increase your self-confidence and esteem. It doesn’t have to be a fancy breakfast as those you see in movies (but you can totally have those too!), just give yourself something you like every day, and take the time to enjoy it. This is very important because we tend to be in a rush and even eat breakfast standing up or on the subway. Give yourself permission to have that time to be calm and eat.

This step is a game-changer for those days where you need extra motivation. For example, if you have a big interview and you love pancakes, this is the perfect time to make them.

Pro tip: Give yourself a break!

If you want to keep the motivation high throughout the whole day, you need to slow down a little bit. Take several pauses where you can breathe and listen to something that puts a smile on your face. It could be a song that makes you want to dance or a meditation to bring energy back into your body.

It is also important to drink a lot of water, not only for your health but also for your productivity and energy level. I know you probably think it is not easy to drink 8 glasses of water per day, but when you incorporate this habit into your routine and make it part of your breaks, you will find yourself drinking water without you even notice it.

So, are you going to start your mornings feeling motivated?
