You have been dreaming of your wedding day ever since you were little, and now it’s finally time. The planning has been hectic/stressful until now, and everything has turned out great. It is just the way you imagined, and nothing will spoil your day. You are excited about everything…except cold feet.

So how do you keep cold feet at bay? How does one prevent becoming a nervous wreck on their special day?

This has worked for me, and it really kept me calm throughout my wedding. So you know it has a 100% success rate.

Three important thoughts kept me in a state of zen, and instead of panicking, I was able to enjoy every second of my special day. You must be wondering what those three things were…I’ve listed them below.

1. Think of your fiancé

You have been in love for quite some time. You look down and see your engagement ring adorning your finger. Yes, it is a symbol of you and your partner’s love.

You made it thus far. You are going on the next journey, together as one.

Marriage isn’t the end of anything you and your special other had had going on. It only solidifies your relationship, signaling to others that you have found your perfect mate and are ready to tackle the next path with him/her forever by your side.

You will be bound to your love, and he/she will be bound to you in the same way.

Marriage doesn’t complicate anything, and it makes the lives of those participating just that much more comfortable.

2. Think of your future

Don’t fear the coming years. Embrace it; now, you will have someone permanently by your side, tackling every day together. Things that may have been difficult for you to handle on your own will become much easier with someone there to help you through it.

Not knowing what’s to come is always a scary thought that everyone is constantly confronted within their lives. But, knowing that the love of your life will always be there beside you…he/she will give you the courage to go on. Don’t fear; you will be even stronger at the end of this day. You are gaining something in your life. Marriage gives you more; it never takes away anything.  You have much to look forward to.

3. Think of all the things that have happened and led you to this point.

I know not everyone has had to go through trials to be with the partners they choose to marry, but we all go through something.

Some things may have been horrendous to deal with, and others were just bumps in the road. We go through these ordeals with the people we choose to keep in our lives, and these trials strengthen our relationships. If someone did not care enough about you, they would have up ‘n left as soon as the first red flag popped up.

You and your partner have gone through it all. Things came and went, but your love prevailed.

Think of the times he/she held you close and made you realize that spending ‘forever’ with one another is the only thing you want in this world.

Life is great. But, sharing it with someone else is what makes it fantastic.

Two people are better than one. When two people work together, they get more work done. If one person falls, the other person can reach out to help. But those who are alone when they fall have no one to help them. If two people sleep together, they will be warm. But a person sleeping alone will not be warm.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-11 ERV

These thoughts will get you through the day. Again, you have much to look forward to. You have so much to learn, and each day will bring its own set of challenges. But doing things together is what makes it worth it. It is all that matters in the end.

So it’s your big day, enjoy it and cherish each moment. Oh! And remember to smile, smile, smile, and smile!
