Ristretto is the shortest shot of all the coffee. The process for making ristretto is the same as its more famous cousin, the espresso.The use of less water is not just to make a shorter coffee but because different compounds are extracted from the ground coffee at different stages of pulling your shot.

Americano is simply espresso added to hot water to make a long black coffee. It’s important that the espresso is added to the hot water and not the other way around. Doing this the other way around will “burn” the espresso.
