How To Make Delicious Butter Chicken At Home

Butter chicken, also known as murgh makhani, is a popular Indian dish made with tender chicken in a rich and creamy tomato-based sauce. Here is a recipe for making delicious butter chicken at home:

Tasty Butter Chicken At Home

2 tbsp vegetable oil, 1 onion, finely chopped, 3 cloves of garlic, minced, 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes, 1 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup unsalted butter

Ingredients for Sauce

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces, 1 cup plain yogurt, 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste, 2 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp ground coriander, 1/2 tsp ground turmeric, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, Salt (to taste)

Ingredients for Marination

Fresh thick-cream, fresh cilantro, fresh mint, Fried onions, Cashew nuts, Fried garlic, Fried ginger

Ingredients for Garnishing

 In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, kesar and salt. Add the chicken and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Step for Marination

In a Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 2

Add the tomatoes and their juice to the pan and bring to a simmer. Cook for 15 minutes, or until the tomatoes have crushed down and the sauce has thickened.

Step 3

Add the chicken and its marinade to the pan and stir well. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Cook for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.

Step 4

Stir in the cream and butter, and cook until the sauce is heated through. Taste and adjust seasoning, as needed.

Step 5

Serve the butter chicken over basmati rice or with naan bread, garnished with fresh cilantro and cashews.
