Functional medicine is treating the cause, not the symptoms, through the process of taking responsibility for your own self-care. It is amazing to realize that a lack of self-care causes so much illness! Also, lack of self-care has robbed you of creating a life you deserve. It has made you believe that you don’t matter. Take the time today to assess your life and whether or not you are practicing self-care.

To be able to apply self-care to all levels of your life, you must remember you matter! Your time matters. Your energy matters. Your mind, your body, your soul, and your spirit-matter!
Remember, just as you become addicted to unhealthy food, you become addicted to thoughts, emotions, events, and relationships not serving you. This addiction is made stronger by chemicals released in your body as you think, feel, and react to your environment.

Also, recognize that you are only responsible for your own happiness. This healing insight will not only nurture your entire being; it will help you foster your emotional well-being!
