As part of the Morning Lazziness series highlighting empowering women who are making a remarkable impact with their ideas, I had the pleasure of interviewing Gudiya Dagur Patel.

Gudiya Dagur Patel is one of the UK’s top holistic, integrative wellbeing experts, a successful entrepreneur, and a woman with a story of resilience and reinvention.

With 15 years’ experience, Gudiya combines the best of science-backed wellness and spiritual practice. She is educated in clinical nutrition, breathwork, coaching and mindfulness, and is currently completing an MBA, giving her the rare ability to blend deep wellness expertise with business acumen. She runs individual consultations, delivers sought-after retreats, and shares her practical, grounded advice more widely through her speaking and online content.

Alongside her wellness work, she is also co-founder of PHI Clinic – one of the UK’s most successful non-surgical aesthetics clinics – and Director of PHI’s wellness branch, bringing together her integrative expertise and entrepreneurial vision.

What inspired your leap into entrepreneurship, and what personal experiences sparked the idea behind your strong focus on wellness?

In this interview, she discusses her entrepreneurial evolution, from early struggles to the achievements that shaped her online business success.

What inspired your leap into entrepreneurship, and what personal experiences sparked the idea behind your strong focus on wellness?

My journey into wellness entrepreneurship really grew from seeking balance in my own life as a mother, a wife, and a woman with a demanding career. My partner works in the same industry, so wellness was always part of our family language, but I didn’t always embody it. When motherhood arrived, I realised that I couldn’t pour from an empty cup. I needed to restore my own energy, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually. That awakening became the foundation of my work, helping others find their equilibrium and wholeness, without guilt or compromise.

What core problem does your approach solve, particularly for women – and how does your approach stand out in today’s competitive space?

Most women I meet show up everywhere for everyone, yet rarely land fully in their own bodies or breath. My approach is about reclaiming the permission to just be.  Through a blend of clinical nutrition, Ayurveda, emotional release work, and embodied coaching, I help women create spaciousness again. It’s not about adding more routines or rules, it’s about simplifying and softening into what’s already within them.

What were some of the toughest obstacles you faced early in your journey as a female entrepreneur, and how did you navigate through them?

The toughest challenge was believing I could step into my own voice after years of being in service to others – my family, my clients, my roles. There was guilt in prioritising myself and fear of being seen. I navigated it slowly, with compassion, by doing the inner work I now teach – to release old narratives, honouring natural rhythms, and letting alignment lead action.

When the going gets tough, what keeps you grounded and motivated to keep pushing forward?

The reminder that nothing stays forever. The good and the bad both pass. Everything unfolds for a reason, even when I can’t see it yet. That truth brings perspective and calm. Breathwork, time in nature, and being with my daughters bring me back to centre. They remind me why I began this path in the first place.

What daily habits or non-negotiable routines help you stay focused, creatively energized, and support your wellbeing as an entrepreneur?

My mornings are sacred. Before I touch my phone, I sit in silence, breathe, journal gratitude and set an intention for how I want to feel that day. Movement, hydration, and mindful nourishment are my non-negotiables. I also schedule rest as a priority as my creativity only flows from a regulated nervous system.

What’s your main focus when it comes to helping and supporting your clients?

To help them remember who they are beneath the noise. I support clients in reconnecting with their body’s wisdom through nutrition, breath, and emotional release, so they can live with clarity, energy, and authenticity. It’s less about ‘fixing’ and more about re-learning how to listen to themselves.

What are the key things that women overlook when it comes to their own well-being?

We underestimate the cost of constantly being “on.” Many women think self-care is indulgent or something to earn after achievement.  True wellbeing is preventative, not reactive. It’s built in the everyday choices we make with our time, our thoughts, and our attention.

How do you personally define success – not just as a business owner, but as a woman living a purpose-driven life?

For me, success is peace. It’s having the freedom to move through each day with presence, doing meaningful work, being available to my children, and feeling grounded in my purpose without judgement or comparison. The external markers matter less than the internal harmony I feel when I’m aligned with my values.

Can you share a mistake or misstep that taught you a lesson you still carry with you today?

For a long time, I put aside my own dreams to prioritise what suited my family. It felt easier to fit into expectations than to challenge them.  Looking back, I would have thrived sooner (and inspired my daughters more) if I had followed my passion earlier. It taught me that living my truth is the most powerful example I can give my children.

What’s your best advice for women who are not currently feeling their best or who are struggling with trying to juggle everything in life and business?

Pause. Breathe. You don’t have to do it all at once. Start with presence – ask yourself what your body needs right now. Sometimes it’s nourishment, sometimes it’s stillness. Permit yourself to be imperfect and human. From that space, clarity and energy return naturally.

How do you approach risk and innovation, especially in a fast-changing industry?

Presence. By staying deeply present. When I’m grounded, I make intuitive, aligned decisions rather than reactive ones.  Innovation for me comes from stillness, the best ideas arise when I stop forcing outcomes and allow inspiration to move through me.

How do you build that trust with your clients and how can other business owners do the same with their customers?

Trust is built through authenticity and presence. When people feel truly seen and heard, transformation begins. I show up with honesty, no façade, no perfection, and that creates safety. My advice to others: be real, not polished; people connect with your humanity, not your highlight reel. And it’s something I’m actively reminding myself to be aware of too!

What are the top 5 mindset shifts or personal practices that helped you overcome self-doubt and grow your confidence as an entrepreneur?

  • Trust divine timing. Nothing meant for you will pass you by.
  • Rest is productive and necessary for good health.
  • Your humility is your strength.
  • It’s ok to say no without apology.
  • Consistency matters more than confidence, show up anyway.

If you could spark a global movement through your work, what would it be, and why is that mission meaningful to you?

Just Be! A movement that celebrates stillness, self-acceptance, and feminine balance. The world doesn’t need more women hustling, it needs more women remembering their wholeness.  When women “just be,” they reconnect to a power that transforms everything around them – and this can change the whole world.

What’s a quote, philosophy, or guiding belief that shapes how you lead, create, and live every day?

“The winds of grace are always blowing; it is for us to raise our sails.”Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

For me this expresses a beautiful mix of  trust, surrender, and divine flow, which I have faith in every day.
